Theres no way you can "hack" autofocus on the w700 cause of its software, but i saw something strange, w710 has also 2mp camera without autofocus and has an 4mm cam, w700 also hasnt autofocus and has 4.3mm, does it mean that w700 came with a diferente cmos cam that the one that is in w710? a and by the way the 2mp autofocus cameras of SE has 4.8mm, and the 3.2mp cam one has 5.1mm, correct me if im mistaken about the diference of w700 to w710 =)

If you check, the resolutions of the W710 and the K750 are different, slightly. This leads me to think that the W/Z710 have a completely different camera module, rather than the W700 which probably just has the K750 camera without autofocus.

Auto focus is a HARDWARE component. The is no software involved, so you can't just 'activate' autofocus. Autofocus is more expensive and bulkier than fixed focus, which explains why the K610 is so thin. Fixed focus is cheaper and is therefore used in cheaper phones. Also the shutter button wouldn't react to the half press that autofocus requires.

Hmm, if you use a W800 keyboard (not the keypad) with the half press shutter button, and the camera module and cable from a W800, would it fit on a W700 mainboard where the W700 cable goes normally?
The actual camera itself should fit easily enough in the camera module bay of the W700.
Even so it probably still won't work, but would be interesting to try
If the PCB is essentially the same thing with only peripheral hardware differences, then with W800 flashing and W800 camera module, cable and keyboard there is a fair chance it could be done.

I believe with the newer firmwares, zoom is not supported when picture resolution is set to the maximum. Anyway, digital zoom is not worth using. As for changing camera modules, shutter buttons, flashing to W800 f/w, it sounds like a lot of hassle and risks involved. You might end up with a bricked W700. Why not just trade it in for one with built-in auto-focus if it's really that important to you to have it?
