The Red eye is the Auto Focus system and lighting system of the camera.
Its a Traditional itm in Sony Cameras.
i have one on my 5mb camera. But it can be tuned of in the camera. however not on the phone.

To turn off the red light you can turn off auto-focus. that does it.

But with a sony norm camera, you have the function to have the light system of but keep the auto focus.
I like the light it makes people wonder what the phone is doing.

K800 seem to use an active AF, which sends an infraread beam (the red light) to calculate the distance to the object. This works upto approxemately 20 feet (6 m). To take pictures on longer distances it can be wise to switch to landscape mode.
Red eye reduction is easiest achieved by letting the camera preflash just before the picture is taken. This causes the irises in the eyes of the person being photographed to narrow down or shrink and hence reduce the amount of flash light being reflected from the retina (that's what causes the red eye effect).

My guess is those cameras have both active and passive AF systems, while K800 only has active AF.
