I am really interested to see what this thing looks like when it takes a photo. I don't suppose someone has a link to a video of someone using this xeon flash or does someone want to upload one.

Thanks

The flash doesnt work with video as it only flases once. If you could use the flash in the dark then all you would see is black with a very brief flash of light and then darkness.
It is the same sort of flash that you get on any standard camera. It flashes once very quickly and that is it.

I dont think there would be a problem with the xenon light burning up as this is what most top of the range cars now have. Or am I completely off the mark?

I thought they were using the term 'flash' as a gimmick but it really IS a flash. I have a sony cybershot camera and its exactly the same.

Those who want a torch, take a photo of a white piece of paper and use that!

This works in a diffrent way to xenon car headlights. It works in the same way as a strobe light. It charges up a high voltage in a large capacitor and then releases it all in one go making a very bright light.

What a bummer, Another reason ill keep my K750I then.

Sony Ericsson have done it again, Lets hope they put a torch feature on the K800I replacment, A couple of super bright white leds aint gonna cost much.

The torch is bloody handy, Ive used it loads of times.

Also how do you shoot video in the dark if the K800I only has a flash?

I know shooting video isnt a K800I strong point, Seems this new phone is a let down.

You've got W900, W810, W850 etc to choose from if you want a phone that doubles as a camera, but also has a torch. If you want a much better camera though you need a K800, and yes, it won't have some of the things standard on cheaper models. Video as mentioned is a disappointment, but it's also worth noting that quality video isn't usually part of a dedicated digital camera. They've squeezed 3G AND a 3.2MP camera into one device - I don't begrduge the lack of better video in the K800.

If you want better video, get the W900, it still has 2MP camera and bloody nice phone.

with K750, the problem was it doesnt have much light coz it only uses led in shooting in the dark, thats why they made MXE-60...

and with K800, it has a builtin xenon, now the problem is that adorable LED we all scrutinizing about... hopefully theyll make an MXE-60-like add on to K800, this time not a xenon light but LED lights to act as a torch for videos... how bout that?

you can get a torch for the old connector. but it points down not out like you would need it for video.

The should make something - bloody good idea rocky
