@ JN
when i want to take a pic worth remembering i usually get the t68 camera attatchment out and snap away!
i call it 'bringing out the big guns!'
@mr. m - Ya sure you mean pic worth remembering . . . or disposing

What iliked only with that Sony 8 MP digicam is it's - 'touch-screen' feature (very 1st on digicams I guess

) , but given the money, I won't buy a Sony branded digicam ! Only Canon, Nikon, Olympus and Pentax will do for me !

I have a Canon A620, it is a quite decent 6.1 MP digital camera and I think not even the latest and best camera phone come close to this, and it's worth noting that this isn't a higher-class camer but rather a middle-class one. Now for a phone the K800/K790's camera performance is amazing.

Zoom in on both cameras, and then tell us which provides better quality.

@ JN, i agree that the touch screen is quite gimmicky and there are definatley better digital cameras out there.
@QVGA . When zooming in on both, the dsc-n1's optical zoom is obviously better whereas the k800i's digital zoom loses quality
There are cameras in phones now with 10MP which is probably why company's such as jessops are selling mobile phones now aswell as im sure that it will come to a time when camera phones will outsell stand alone digital cameras. Although the quality of the pictures might not be the same, it will just be more convenient.

You cant just rely on the pixels as the optics and CCD/CMOS sensor make a big difference also, you can get a 5MP SLR that outperforms a 8MP SLR and a 10 MP camera phone would probably be quite poor when compared to a standard 5MP digital camera when printed on A4 photo paper

I'm slightly satisfied about k800 quality....any digital cam with that resolution outperforms it, so please stop SE and other fanatics telling us it's a digitalcam with phone.
Imho it's the exact contrary: a mobile phone with a camera.
I own 5 years old Canon powershot 4mpx and quality is far away from k800, and remember that mpx number means nothing.
Yeah, it's great to have everithing in one device, bet imho at the moment it's a "better than nothing solution".
Probably we'll have to wait 1/2 years to see decent quality on mobiles. Decent means no need to use a digicam (exlcuding the SLR world).
With k800 if you're lucky you can get some decent shots, I would say an average of 30% good and 70% bad.
Still needs bigger and higher quality optics and better sensors, but probabiliy we are on the right way.
