I know why! It's because SE changed k750i firmware ! A quick note from SE :

(it is in Polish SE site, because i can't see t his on UK one)

Quote:
Uwaga:
W telefonach K750 produkowanych od połowy maja stopniowo będą wprowadzane następujące zmiany:

* Nowa wersja programu PC Suite z ulepszonym interfejsem użytkownika i szybszą synchronizacją
* Nowa wersja aparatu fotograficznego o rozdzielczości 2 megapikseli ze zbliżeniem:

1,0 = 1632 x 1224
2,5 = 640 x 480
4,0 = 160 x 120

Which means:
Warning:
In k750i phones which are produced from half May, following changes will be introduced:
* New version of PC Suite with upgraded UI and faster synchronisation
* New version of camera with resolution 2 megapixels with zoom:

1,0 = 1632 x 1224
2,5 = 640 x 480
4,0 = 160 x 120

Hope this helps

I dunno why SE did this!

I think the solution is to flash phone with normal firmware, use davinci program www.davinciteam.com and flash with normal firmware, this should help.

Its a decision which SE made to reduce their sales of K750 and increase the sales of K800.

That's unusual. Have you tried updating again (i.e. reinstalling the update)?

Its a new policy from Sony Ericsson, You should have found a single page of paper floating around inside the box saying how Sony Ericsson have decided to upgrade the lens on the K750I.

It also tells you about the zoom issues.

I think it's got something to do with picture quality when zooming. Sony cameras have this Smart Zoom feature, and the same with this, you get more zoom the less pic size you have.

Like Sony cams and the latest cell phone models use the extra pixels to 'optimize' the zoomed pic. So far as I read about this feature with sony cams, it works or at least it's better than 'precision' zoom (this is the one we are all familiar with).

I guess the latest k750i upgraded from precision to smart zooming.

btw, I have a sony digicam but have not tried smart zooming because I always shoot using the max size.

maybe someone would try to experiment with k750i's zoom picture quality
