What exactly is the rationale of protected files? Do our beloved operators really know so much better than we do, that they must protect our souls from ourselves and our hasty deletions? THOU SHALLT NOT DELETE OUR FUNKY ROLLERCOASTER GIF.

They are protected because the operator considers their content on your phone a form of advertising for their network. And since you usually pay a lot less for a branded phone, they figure the saving to you equates to the "cost" of advertising on your phone. So in other words, if you want the phone cheap, you have to be prepared to put up with the branding.
Another thing branding does, is make it easy for you to, either on purpose or accidently, connect to the operator's online content - which means they get a few cents gprs and you may even buy some crappy online content.

it has very strong encryption. You basically need a super computer to crack it. They are working on it, and likely they will come up with a workaround, but full FS access may not be realistic.
Time will tell.

to delete protected files, u just need opera mini cracked version, and use file manager. clear "read only" attribute on protected files u want to delete, and u are free to delete those files. u can also set files u want to be protect by setting those files into read only. good luck

you cannot delete protected files this way. Even with opera mini, which in theory is no different to moby explorer. Protected files are different to "read only" files. And the games are stored in an area of the phone's file system that java can't access.

it works on my k608 and k750 (pictures, sounds, and other files). but yes, u can't delete protected application in the phone's memory. the only reason u can't delete protected files (pic and sound files) is that the files marked with "read only" attribute.

oops, yep you right, it's drm'd files you can't delete.
Also, on my k750, protected themes are stored in the themes folder which is not visible in internal memory using opera.
