> Buying a Digital Camera
Bookmark topic
Next month Im buying a 2 or 4gb MSD to use with my W800 and I was expecting to be able to use it with my new digital camera as well. My budget is limited so I wouldnt like to buy 2 diferents kinds of memory sticks plus my new camera.
My decision is between the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1(realy like this one) and the Sony Cybershot DSC-T30. I have a 128mb SD card which I guess I could use with the DMC-TZ1 but then i could take just about 40 pics

The Panasonic DMC-TZ1 was also my first choice when I was looking for a good digital camera. The specs and quality are just awesome for such a relatively compact camera.

@rr - Good Luck pal ! What I only liked with Panasonic's is their - LEICA lens, nothing more . . .
@manish - Nice one pal ! Kodak captures nice images . . . a bit yellowish (hue) though . . .

@black - But I have to admit that what you just got . . . a Canon S3IS - 6 MP, is one of the best at present !

@JN, yup It's a great compromise between a point-and-shoot camera and an SLR. It's features are just perfect for me and I'm really having fun with it.
@rrojas, let us know what you decided on buying. Perhaps we'll see some of your pics soon in the "Share your Kodak Moments thread"

@black - How I wish that the S3IS has other alternate colors . . . not only BLACK

a setback I guess! Now, with it's DSLR shell and looks + black color . . . you would surely mistaken it as a Professional Digicam 1 But as what you have just said . . . the S3IS is a cross between two lovers: point and shoot & professional's !

if you want it tow work with memory stick then you have to go with a sony, personally I would say ignore the type of car it takes because they are cheap and go for say a nikon coolpic 3200 - although its slightly larger then other is take cf cards, feels great in the hands, is dirt cheap, sturdy, and the picture quality will rival any 5 mpx compact camera.
Also casios are good, but my one bit of advice is not to buy the slimline cameras, the focus is bad and the quality is not that great compared to the older extendable zoomers - this is my experience

@luke - Yup, Nikon is a fone to consider too here . . . About the Casio Exilim'x . . . I was opting to get that then . . however, when I saw the feedback on dpreview.com, the flash has a downside on almost ALL of the Casio models . . . but I envy seeing their latest 10 MP one, point and shoot !

yeh the main problem with the casios is the flash as you say - although I never used that because most of my photos were taken indoors of products for sale
the other thing that out me off the slimmer casios was the macro mode was poor - 18 cm is a joke
but then again I have a fuji z1 as a my personal camera and its awfull, like you said earlier the vertical zoom (built into the body) does not compare to that of a external one.
One thing I don't really know is why this guy is delving right in to the camera thing, no offence, but I presume this is your first proper digi cam? You should start of low and basic and then move up if you need the features, this is why I say go for a nikon 3200, becuase its a older model, but still what Id class as one of the best cameras thats been released

@luke - I think - rrojas, has some dineros to spend, so he's opting in getting some hi-end models here pal. Yup, if he will be puttin' Nikon in his LIST, then maybe he can get the 6 or 7 megapixel cam already . . . the highest MP cam I've seen in the point-and-shoot arena is the Fuji FinePix - 9 MP one

has the same price with that of Blackspot's - Canon S3IS !
