Well, for first i think you cant play videos frm it,cant browse tracks without changing the songs currently playing,no megabass.i think these are some key features missing.
1) The new separate video player on the K800 is better in so many ways than the Walkmans video player.
2) I agree it's a small drawback, but it's still easy to get back to the song list - just press back and then click the joystick a few times.
3) Megabass was horrible.
On the other hand, the player brings many improvements -
1) The menus load instantly (the w800 was incredibly slow)
2) It builds the menus based on ID3 tags (instead of you having to create a folder structure)
3) The menus have an "All" option - that was what really made the iPod 500x better than the w800
4) M4A tags actually work
5) Fast-forward is accellerating so it doesn't take years to fast-forward in a long file
6) The menu isn't as cluttered
7) It looks nicer - less orange

MegaBass is for kiddies who think head pounding bass is kewl...
In reality it's crap and muddies the proper sound of the track...

Well i have checked three seperate phones (k790i) here in India and they all sound very soft through the speakers , and through the headphones they lack bass . there are many here in india who have returned their phones due to that. i admit that the ringing volume is very good but the media player volume is low (i also have a w900i and it is not comparable).
can sombody who have the k790i post your firmware details please. also the country which u bought . Any body in India ?

Info:
Bass response is generally dependent upon the headphones. Cheap headphones will sound cheap and not reporduce a true bass response.
Megabass is/was/ and will continue to be a stupid idea.
Buy some good headphones, not for $30 but for say $130 or more and notice the difference.
At the end of the day, it is a phone, a phone, a phone, a phone, a phone, that plays music as an added marketing bonus. Making and receiving telephone calls is it main function.
Your friends that took the phone back because of the "lack of bass" are dumb.

I bought a K790i shipped from Singapore with firmware R1CC003. The volume problems are just as you describe. I think it is a firmware (not a hardware) problem because ring tone and alarm clock volume is quite loud. I read that the K750 had a similar problem and it was improved in a firmware upgrade.
Also, I heard that adjusting the equalizer settings to maximum for all frequencies might improve the volujme to acceptable levels at least for multimedia.

Thank god , somebody agrees with me . I also have the same Singapore ver with the firmware u mentioned. Somebody who claims mp3 quality = to the walkman series please post their region and firmware here . It would be of great help .
as of now k790i has been released with one firmware only , but may be the configuration varies with region .
