if i just back up the settings, it works

will restoring a partial backup (settings) followed by another partial backup (other options) work? as in will subsequent backups affect the first partial settings backup?

I also ran into this issue now. Half way through the backup it will just stop with an error saying that 3rd party applications cannot be backed up. Disabling these the backup stops at the settings and the backup cannot be completed either. But the settings are most crucial in my opinion, it's one of the reasons I do a backup anyway!

SE, please fix this thing asap! There's people in the forums all over the place who experience this very same problem!

Other than backing up contacts or maybe calendar info, a back up is like performing an oil change and then using the old oil again.

Yeah, but having old oil is sometimes better than having no oil at all...

Just backed it up a second ago and it's ok. No problems. I have R4A002.

The solution is: delete all previous backups from your computer and run backup again. I did it and some other guys at a German forum did it, too. It runs just fine!

I have discvovered the reason why you get the message "Backup cancelled by device" , I unchecked the option for choose flight-mode when turning on or of the phone.... and then my backup worked

Hi!

After a few failed attempts, I

1, unchecked and checked all the options (settings, multimedia, etc.)
2, deleted all previous backups.

One of them (or both) did the trick, the backup worked well.

I have gmail mobile app, Google maps and Opera Mini installed.

Maybe it's safer if you just move or zip the old backups.
