> Atrac3 on Walkman phones?

Hi all,
I definitely am in the minority here but i use Sony Connect and am very happy with Atrac and Atrac+ and have never understood why SE phones don't support it. But as i convert back to MP3 for in car use just use MP3 on the phones i have had.

Do a Google search about ATRAC and compare it. AAC sounds much better in relationship to file size then ATRAC. ATRAC has to throw out the ultrasonic and infrasonic in order to keep the files sizes small and to fit on MiniDiscs.

OK, version three of my statement
On portable mp3 players, the only player to support AAC is the Apple iPod. WMA is supported by just about every other brand of mp3 player. This includes iRiver, Creative, Samsung, Sony etc.

Yes for now, but Microsoft's format is too proprietary to become the replacement for mp3; as the limitations of mp3 compared to newer better codecs like AAC becomes more obvious, AAC will slot into that role, and players will start to support it in droves.

I have a Sony NW-E005 MP3 Player and it plays AAC.You can convert CD's into AAC using Sony Connect and convert from one format to another,at least on the latest version of Connect.They should have put Atrac3 on the phones.You could then find out which format you prefer by yourself.

atrac is way more hardware overhead and adds too much to the size of handsets. A whole extra audio processor is required, with encryption etc.

yeah my old, old irivier ifp-790 after FW upgrade also plays AAC. pretty good format though.
