Probably you would have to send it to a service center so they can 'sync' it with the new sim card, pretty much making the main purpose of inventing the user-replaceable sim cards, well, useless...

Even if this came to pass there would be some guy up the market that can sort it for a tenner within the month- there is no such thing as an unlockable lock

Well if I had one I might type 'unlocking' k800 into Google- hit the 'I'm feeling lucky' button and come straight to someone who can do it for less than a tenner.

Hi Shug,
sorry to disagree but all the people that make a living from unlocking phones so far not one has been able to find a solution to unlock BB5 series phones and they have been out for months now. I am not saying they never will be able to but currently it is looking very unlikely but if you know different i would be interested to hear what you know. Anyone that is selling a solution say it is a gamble and may work but in reality they are just takeing peoples money for nothing.

I doupt that this will ever pass due to it being illegal in many countries to lock the phone and may become illegal here.
Your phone operator is legally obliged to unlock your phone if u ask them to as its your property (pay as you go) and you have brought it, although they are allowed to charge a fee for doing it ( 3 takes the piss)
