But anyways i guess that is definetly some improvement. but less see it after a few months, if really can make a difference.

My w800 and k750 never had that white covering.

I have had three K750s since UK launch and I have actually not noticed any joystick problems in any one of them, even after constant use. The only problem I have with the K750 physically wise is its inability to keep dust out, the screen is just packed full of dust.

Well it must be something new. As I've had my late 2005 K750i apart once and it did not have the rubber. Does the joystick feel different to older models?

The joystick feels the same to use as other models, the other thought is that this phone looks like it may originally have been bought in France, as the only language packs are French and English, and it has a lot of pre-installed ringtones with French names, perhaps they had this protector and everyone else didn't?

I'd say it's a new feature to protect the joystick better from dust. Dust (and dead skin) is one of the biggest causes of early joystick failure. It's not necessarily the joystick mechanism that weakens, but that it is simply clogged up with dust and not making contact. This is why in 70% of cases a faulty joy can be fixed by cleaning it well with electronic contact cleaner.

I reckon this cap will make a huge difference to joystick reliability by removing the need for joystick cleaning. Depending on use, the joy can need cleaning every 3-12months. With the cap you probably wouldn't need to clean the joystick for a couple of years.

However excessive heavy use will damage the joystick itself over time, so I recommend you look after your joys replacing it is a micro-soldering job.

hmmmm. I wonder if in the future it will be possible to purchase that cover from some hardware replacement store of some sort. That would be good!
