it doesnt matter how much time SE took to realize EDGE, things are easier now, even for us. Nokia rushed ahead with the wifi. SE is a great company and they have the same skills to make it happen. SE doesnt want to put wifi into its phones because they dont want.

Exactly ... I was hoping that some day someone would come up with a voip application that I could use over the wifi, but until then, yeah, browse the net and be happy that I'm not wasting my precious earnings on GPRS!

I really do not think that they are waiting for the new 802.11n to be fully ratified, cause if they were, they would not have come out with the Mylo (http://www.learningcenter.sony.us/assets/itpd/mylo/prod/index.html) which uses the 802.11b. Since they are bringing out a new product with the 802.11b wifi, they could as well have put it on some of their products introduced this year ..... its just that they seem to find some other reason for not putting it on! ... I wonder what that is!

anyone also think of price factor? have you noticed SE are one of the cheaper brands of phone because the added technolagy (BT, IrDA, some GUI etc) are in the past? yeh they give as an amazing cam but the rest is like a few months old maybe even a few years tech so when the prices come dwn for the wifi chips im sure they will intergrate them as std but right now look at the prices of wifi enabled phones

hmm, I would really welcome WiFi...I dont see why SE havent implemented the WiFi to fashion phones (w810, k800...) Is it really such a big deal? And what kind of argument is "SE didnt implement WiFi becouse they dont want to"? Ok, If U tell me that it actually is a big techno deal Ill understand. But for such a top notch brand, and top notch geeks like those in SE, I dont really understand why tha WiFi hasnt been here for a while.

They haven't put it in there because SE now we don't want to be carrying round our chargers to extend the 2 hours battery life like the N80 has when using WiFi!

@Paparazzi; just like your co-sign states "not all the full story within". The mylo is STRICTLY a Sony project/product. We all can see the Linux/Java underpinnings similar to the PS3 OS, PSP OS as well. I see NO SE phone with such underpinnings.

That doesnt mean we may see an SE phone with Linux or not in the future, however WiFi browsing at 802.11b was selected NOT for power consumption concerns but for cost concerns.

802.11n would significantly improve battery life. Sorry the arguement that they dont wan to put WiFi in phones is rubbish, but at the moment makes sense if its going to hurt their profits.
