@amnesia, a few online shops offer a sim-free phone with a contract sim card, so what l meant was is it an 'official' o2 version of the P990i that you have ordered, where you will get support etc. from o2? I don't think you will if its sim-free? Nothing to do with branding or being locked.

I have phoned O2 upgrade many times and the cheapest contract they can offer me is £20 a month with 500 anytime xnet minutes and 500 texts.

What annoys me though is that a friend of mine got the same deal for £15 pm. I have threatened to leave many times but no other network offers unbranded phones like O2 (but it seems voda are offering unbranded P990)

I have been quoted 180 for the P990i. Anybody know how long it normally takes for O2 to lower phone prices?

I have waited for a long time and can wait a bit more for the P990i especially with its reported instabilities.

@gizmo1, It depends on your current usage i guess, if you are going to use all 500 mins and 500 texts, then they are going to charge u higher, because you are geting all the free stuff. If you dont use them all, they may be persuaded to lower it. Because i dont use all my current free stuff with them, they gave me a lower monthly cost.

@Paul McLaren, Fluid Mobile is partnered with the CarphoneWarehouse so if you need technical support with your phone. So if you step into a CPW shop, they scan the phone's imei and it'll show up as 'Fluid Mobile' on their systems and they'll take care of it as if you took out the contract directly with them.

I've always taken out phones this way and CPW have always given me ace support.

Think of it this way, if you get a contract phone at Orange, and they 'luckily' give you a sim free version, they still take care of you right? Same thing here.

The deal is considered to be an O2 deal so you will have O2 support that's for sure. My phone arrives on Wednesday they said so I'll be able to fill you in then.

I actually use pretty close to 500 mins a month so I can see why O2 are not willing to reduce my line rental to 15 a month.
