I used the T65 made in malaysia wth R5.. sw. for about a week then it went dead. I have it replaced with a new unit still made in malaysia but with the R3B sw. After 6 months, i experienced only frequent restarts.

I think IT IS POSSIBLE for the R5A version to be much more unstable than the R3b that comes from the factory with the Malaysian models (like my first one). It is true that it only crashed (not rebooted) once with the first firmware (I was cleaning my phonebook and the T65 just freezed when deleting an item - next time it worked).
I think that any software upgrade is recomendable, since it always fixes some bugs.. but in this case, I'm not really sure.
Still, I was surprised that my second one (made in China), crashed 5 times in one hour - after I bought it - while I was configuring it. So, the ideea that the mobiles comming from the factory are more stable with the built-in software version is not quite appliable.
Though, I'm quite interested in knowing wether one of you has an Europe made T65. Do Europe made T65s exist?

Since my bro has T65 and its R3b software, and he's been saying that the phone is slow and it did restart sometimes, would upgrade to R5a improves the menu speed and T9 speed ?? Is it noticeable?? Also, as some people say that if its not much problem, there no real need to upgrade to r5a as it may create another problems, so what's people with R5a on T65 think about this software and any problems occur???
The one selling my second T65 - when I went back to show her that it crashes - noticed that I was really working fast on the T65. I even surprised myself. Slow menus is probably for the ones who are used to seeing everything before clicking. Once you get used to it, you'll skip the slow menus. Or, maybe I was lucky and the menu speed did improve after the software upgrades.
What's sure that the frequency of restarts has increased. The slow menu is nothing compared to the restarts. Imagine that the most annoying restart I had was after a few seconds after starting a phonecall. I was used with rebooting after 3-4, 7, 12 minutes.. but not in the 1st minute.
I do not recomment software upgraded at this mobile unless they're really necessary - I mean you can't live without it.
T9 works disatrous after upgrading from R4A to R5A. Immediate master reset needed or everything messes up. Master reset is recommended after ALL the software upgrades. Btw, I hate rebuilding my phonebook after master resets. One more reason for NOT upgrading software.

mm.. what software version do they have preinstalled? where else in Europe are T65s built? This made me curious... And, some information about the hardware versions the T65s have, where can be found? Like.. what was upgraded from one hardware version to another.. etc

I've been using T65 for more than a month now in Malaysia and it works fine! I don't think it has anything to do with the phone manufacturing origin but I think it is mere luck whether you land on a good or bad phone.
mm.. I've used the T65 since.. the middle of June till now.. the middle of October.. that's about.. 4 months. It annoyed me especially in the last two months. So, one month might not be enough. It also depends on what you use on it.
I might have been unlucky. I can't deny this.
The battery.. no comment. Let's say it lasts more than other batteries, and the mobile does pretty much for what a mobile should do, so the battery is OK, although it is written somewhere it lasts for ~250h.. I'm not sure if I remember well. Anyway.. more than 200.

it have been mostly R4A007, R2B and some R5A.... when checking the sw version, scroll as far down as possible and you'll see a version number which can be the hw version... is R1A on all T65

I know, I HAD

a T65... the maximum time it indicated was 180h (or somewhere around).
In the previous post I mentioned how much is the T65's battery suposed to last. from 180 (real) to 250-300 is quite... much
