I was exactly the same. Waited a year for it, then it wasn't what I expected when I got it, so I sent it back. Pleased it wasn't just me that had the doubts. My advice, if you dont like it now, send it back, you can always try again when the software is stable and it drops in price.

Did you all revert back to your old P910, or k750?? Or what do you guys use now then that's so much better?

Well currently I use a N93, but I change phones all the time.

Better, well...I haven`t had any sw issues with my N93 yet....

The P990i caused me to much hazzle, sw issues and whatnot..

Probably would have been fixed eventually, but I just got fed up...

I honestly think in my opinion, if you guys and gals are looking for a great smartphone to seriusly consider the Treo 650. Its wondeful because of the following reasons:

a) Hugely customizable with a lot of apps and system/phone tweaks to improve the practicality of the phone (eg missed call alerts, sms usage, button customizations, increasing gain etc).
b) Probably around 10,000 apps available for it
c) Better screen quality
d) Excellent and the best one handed navigation system around
e) Excellent sms system with threaded, chat sms history, last 10 contacts sent, dedicated sms hardware key
f) Closes apps automatically when you leave them and does not leave them running in the background hogging memory.

As with any phone, it can be unstable at times but IMO its best of all of them - for me. It does not have wifi, radio or better camera, but everything else it does it does well.

I am not trying to turn this into a treo v P990 post. I am just informing what I think is a great phone and one that will go back to after I return the P990 back to Vodafone.

I really really want the P990 to be the phone for me. Having never used Symbian or WM before and only ever Palm, I just feel it is an inferior OS.

Maybe I just need to wait for developers to release tweaks and apps to improve the OS as I understand UIQ3 is still brand new.

So confused.

Topics like that just put me off, but I dont blame you mate cause everyday am fluctuating my decision for getting or not that bloody P990i...

My P900 is wasted (turns off and on when it feels like it), so mainly this is the main reason for going into the P990i...

HA HA AHA h ah aha H AH AH AHA !!!

after all this time the P990 still makes me laugh

lol sorry again couldn't resist,

I was in your boat (thank god I kept my k750 )

for those looking for an alternative try the HTC-TyTN check the forums here for a vs p990 thread, main advantages:
1- cheaper lol
2- wm5 tons of applications, flash enabled / skype
3- wifig + HSDPA

not to mention it's available whereas the P990 is still not officialy launched in some places lol, and the S.E. HBH-DS970 works with it

I dont want to put anyone off. If you are used to the Symbian OS system, then the P990 might be good for you. For me, coming from Palm OS, that is all I can compare it too. I want an OS that I can easily use without worry while I walk.

I wish everyone luck with their new P990. All I can say is if you have never used Symbian before, see if you can try it out before making an expensive purchase.

No harm meant to Symbian fans.

@tboy2000

Treo 650 (I had one for 6 months):

- no FM radio
- no 3G
- no wifi
- no BT 2.0 or A2DP
- no predictive text
- cam only 1.3mp (not sure you can capture video)
- video playback not as good the P990
- no multi-tasking

Screen better in the sun than the P990

IMO the A2DP sound quality (with my DS970) on the TyTN compared to the P990i is like listening to FM radio vs CD. I would actually say it is so bad that it is not worth bothering with.
In addition the TyTN cannot handle doing anything else whilst streaming over A2DP. If you tweak the A2DP sound quality via the registry to get it close to (IMO) being acceptable it would stutter every tens seconds or so.
