What did you mean by media button config? With my voda version it just needs you to hold it down for like 10secs and it loads up the media sw.

Just got VF P990 and thought same hardware issue, but held buttons in for couple of secs and appls launch just fine

on non vodafone p990's you can configure the media player button to either
play music,
play radio or
play last
on vodafone handsets that config is not available it seems
