For those wanting web n walk on P990i, don't bother, cos its slow and if you expecting full viewing and use of the internet then don't even think about getting the phone and the service. I've used it and its a very poor service.

Rather than surfing on the web on the way to work, i'll wait to get home. By the time the page loads, ur already at work and theres no time time to read the page.

I really thought the web n walk will use the t mobile 3 g service but it doesn't and uses GPRS (2.5G).

Consider the new MDA which has speeds upto 1.5 Mb/s

@moqud

my experience seems to be the opposite of yours.

I have used my P990 and M600 with my 3G T-mobile SIM card with web'n'walk and the download speeds are blistering. Very usable. The speed is much much faster than GPRS; having used my 3G PCMCIA card in similar areas as my P990/M600 I know I have 3G coverage the variability of download/upload speeds.

By the way I don't think T-mobile HSDPA at the moment can exceed speeds above 1.2mb I have heard. With my T-mobile 3G PCMCIA card I have only ever acchieved 1.1 mb and I also have a very strong signal.

Hi moqud,
I have to agree with Jah on this Web N Walk even the non professional version does run on 3G and is more than fast enough. So i don't know where you got your info from but it is wrong and what phone were you using it on? as on both a N70, N73 and now N93 i have no complaints at all. Others have also have taken out Web N Walk contracts and they also have no complaints.

I've (briefly) popped my T-Mob simcard into my P990i and with 3G coverage have experienced internet browsing at a very quick speed.

My VF simcard is normally in my P990i and again, when I have 3G coverage, the speed of browsing the internet is quick.

Are you sure you had 3G coverage? Your handset may inadvertantly be locked to a 2G signal?

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I'll have to nurse my sick p910 for another couple of months and await developments.

Hi,
tried a search and only came back with this thread
Anyway, my question is: how to do install/use t-mobile's web'n'walk settings on my voda p990? I got the T-mobile settings from SE site, but still cant connect, get the error that i "could not locate remote server"

Any advice or tips?

Have you checked under your INternet gropus to see if thet T-Mob settings are no.1 priority? It may be that the handset is trying to access the 'embedded' VF settings first, but not connecting (as you're using a T-Mob sim).

Guys,

I'm a bit annoyed with O2, and I'm considering another operator. What's currently the best way to get the P990i on Web 'n Walk as T-Mobile doesn't offer the phone... oh, and I still have about 3.5 months to go on my O2 contract, which I'm thinking of scrapping. Anyone know what penalties I'll be getting for doing that..?

Thanks!
