yep, java is the way to go. you can zip and encrypt files with java apps. It would be nice if SE inplemented folder locking, for the simple reason that phones now hold lot's of info you would normally only keep on a more secure device.
But if they don't, then it would be nice to see a java based lockable file system. For example, an encrypted cache unlockable only with a java app, to which you can copy files from the phones file system.
It is already possible to use the jave File Protect app to encrypt single files, but not folders.

I'm talking locking selectively, meaning you can lock the phonebook and Settings but be able to leave other folders unlocked. It's also possible to lock the entire folders.

The most annoying thing about se not including a lock on thier phones is the amount of new threads that people start to complain about it. There are loads of threads about it.

doesn't work. I can "lock" a folder, but then I can still go into that folder with file manager. Has anyone got this to work?
It seems to lock files only, not folders.
Something else about this app that is quite important to understand - it doesn't encrypt files, it just changes the extension so that the phone can't read it. Copy to a computer and it's open slather.
Use FILEPROTECT from ixalon if you want to true encryption of files (128bit).
I'm pretty sure you can't lock folders without the java app running anyway. That is, exiting the app would re-enable access to the folder. I really don't think JAVA has the ability to lock file system folders, since the file system itself doesn't support locking.

@max_wedge- I tried it this morning before I left for work and the exact same thing happened to me. Files open up on file manager and when I transfer to my pc I can read them. Unless we're missing something this is not a solution for me. Anybody with a solution?
