This mobile life is complicated.
I got a sim card and couldn't believe the story I had to go through just to activate it.

I've been to 2 shops both say the fone CANNOT be used , it say's INACTIVE SIM even with an orange simcard that works in other fones, it is a orange fone in an orange box.
I think it has been a contract fone from Orange its been reported lost and has been replaced then the owner has sold it on.
The owner of 1 shop said he has got a 2nd hand circuit board with a different serial number that he could fit for £35, the 2nd hand board is out of a fone that the camera broke.

i recently switched from o2 to vodafone, taking my o2 number with me. from the time i got my vodafone to the time the number switched over the phone said 'inactive sim' on it...so surely that doesnt mean the phone is barred??

I think you are right about the replacement board, BUT I sent an email to the seller giving him the option of refunding me or him paying for the board.
I read his advert for selling it and it said locked on orange and was ACCIDENTLY sent to him by orange.
I rekon they sent it out in error then put a BARRED LOCK ON IT.
Thanks for your help and advise,I will let you know what happens.
I will assume the seller will IGNORE my email.but time will tell.
