If your lookin for a good alternative, i would consider the HTC TyTn. I have the T-Mobile Vario II, which is there version and it's spot on-watches the P990 for features, but also has a 3stage 3G chip for greater 3G roaming-not to mention HSPDA capabilities! Def worth a look mate :-)

The keyboard is a dream to use! Tried a P990's the other day and i think i'd have to carry a small child round with me if i needed to write any decent sized emails!

@bjorne
look here for comparison of P990 and TyTN from people who have used both for a while

@lovewalrus
I've had three TyTNs and have a P990 - sorry disagree with your point on the keyboard. Unless you use these in real life situations you don't appreciate them, the predictive text of the P990 is superb. The reason I had three TyTns was because the first two had faulty keyboards!

Didn't try the predictive Txt-didn't know it had it! As for the 2 faulty models, that really is unlucky! But as for the keyboard, i find the Vario superb-especially as i have sausages for fingers and the P990 keys are to small for me to tap away long emails as i often have too! Think the main point is, best to go to a local store and try a few out to help decide-after all, everyone's different!

@bjorne- the bottom line here is you're unhappy and no one here feels the disappointment and frustration like you. Maybe you got a faulty unit or not but you need to try out something new if you feel you should. Personally I'm disappointed with the P990 after reading the problems people have with it. I agree with you that SE launched an unfinished or rushed (the) product.

agree with you, will do, just trying to find solutions, had high expectations for the P990 and improved functionality!

These advantages do not matter for businessmen as the most important function is stability and Blackberry.

Are Black Berries 3G?
Can you run Wayfinder or similar on a Black Berry?
Do Black Berries have a web browser capable as Opera?
Do Black Berries have 2MP cameras?
Do Black Berries have wifi?
Do Black Berries reproduce music over BT in stereo?

thanks, that exactly my point, nice-to-have stuff but secondary
I'm really trying here, anyone with experiance off BB Connect and P990
- bbc closes when I but the P990 in the cradle or sync contact wia bluetooth, have to reboot
- have to close down bbc to be able to surf on internet, wap, or use wayfinder or other usage that needs gprs
- ram memory is a problem, the Swiss manager that I installed today helps a lot, can close down applications and keep control, things doesnt seem to close down but runs in the background once you open them.
on the positive side....
- really nice camera and video
- business-card scans works over expecations, even manage swedish letters
I'm struggling here, like some stuff and really hate some others, this is a work-tool for me, travelling a lot and Blackberry made a big difference when I got it 1½ ago

@xtemujin
then buy a BB if BB function is so important!
By the way I am a business person but I prefer to use an ultra portable laptop and 3G card as this is much better for me. Used my first 'business' PDA (Psion 5) in 1997 and still don't believe you can do without a laptop for serious business.
