Sorry, but I did just the thing you said you did with "hell" and pressing space just keeps it and moves on. Didn't get anything I didn't want there.
Mine is sim-free.
There are many others. Try "by" for example. On mine it appears as "bypass" with the word i want as a second entry.

Does anybody else have this problem? My phone always defaults to having the ALT keys selected so if I want to type a word I fist have to press Alt to deselect it.

Popolou,
I'm honestly baffled by what you all are getting! I tried to do what you suggest, SMS flip closed, predictive text ON, and pressed 2 and 9 keys and got "by", pressed space to go on. "bypass' was not even on the list!

Since predictive text is purely a software, the answer should be update vie SEUS. Don't forget to backup!

i've tried and tried and tried to find the menu with the contents list of the "predictive" text software but it seems that it is hidden in a system folder, so now i have turned it off and manually type anything i want.

If you don't like predictive text, then just turn it off, not difficult to do! I like it, having been used to using it on my P900 with ezitap. The only thing that would improve it is auto-space.

it likes to select last used words...annoying!

If you type with word-list in the flip-open mode it functions better than with flip closed I have found. There, for example, if you type a two letter word, and presses space afterwards, it uses those two characters even though it has suggested a longer word for you. If it could be like that in flip closed, typing would certainly go faster with flip closed. Damn I hope the flip-closed problems gets fixed in a update sometime..
