What was the status on the M600 lcd screen? Fully operational? Any tracks of water being inside?
I guess todays chips go down when there are short circuits and does not startup fully until everything is OK. Just to minimize the service/repairs.
Btw, he ordered a new one with 4gb memorystick. He really likes the phone so this is not stopping him

on the subject on water damaged phones. last night my n73 drowned in the sea. i took battery out soon as i could. i've taken it to a repair centre but he said there wasn't much hope. plz someone tell me this aint true

@raver - leave the battery out for a few days and leave the phone somewhere warm to dry out thoroughly. Though if it's had seawater on it, it may not be good as that's pretty bad! Same advice as my previous post, warranty people won't touch water damage with a 10ft barge pole!
When you stick the battery back in and don't get an power, don't despair just yet, as it could just be the battery. Try a mate's battery, or get one off ebay and give it a try. Worse case scenario is that you can sell it for spares, the screen'll be worth a few quid by itself!
