dude, no one gives a crap about the us army, you guys are just soldiers, nothing more. feel free to stick to your nokias if you want to use imacs at your office, and not a pc like the rest of the world. macs might just not be a plataform that se wants to support. to answer your question, yes, i did think before posting haha.

Dude, no one cares about your, (and I think I can say this), stupid opinions which amount to squat. You speculate about crap and don't back it up. The same goes for the US Army of which you know nothing about but are so quick to talk about. Once again, you show pretty much how little you know about anything. Second you need to learn to read. I did not say iMacs, I said Macs. Apple makes quite a few models just in case you didn't know. If you did think before you posted, you should try sticking to the subject at hand.

just curios.
Was this info supposed to be classified or something?! Is all this info released for public consumption?
Why and how are you willing to share this kind of info?
I am amazed how easy one could share this kind of info just to show off maybe?!
This could lead to very troublesome stories..WOW.

Are you kidding? You can check any trade publication and see what the Army buys. Did you happen to see the headlines in Esato a few days ago about the Army and Nokia signing a deal?

Dude, you need to get a grip or something.

@Trevor and R6girl,

All the other info aside, use 4smartphone's service and you will be syncing as soon as your credit card is billed. It is very good and stable. You can sync from anywhere and it has some pretty good email features. One word of advice, they try to sell you the premium service but if you only want to sync contacts, emails, and calendars, you can go for the cheap service.

Please, please. don't get down on each other personally.

We, anyone coming to read this particullar thread, must have an interest in using the P990/M600 with their Mac. There really is no need for all this hostility. Thank you.

Someone made a bad or late move when it came to synching with the Mac OS. It maybe SE's fault for not doing much for the 4% of the computer world, or it maybe Apple that did not make ready any necessary API's, or what have you.

The thing is, I am a Mac user, been one for 15 years and have no plans of switching.

I am also a P990i user (T68i and P900 for almost 5 years) and am very pleased with my purchase and have no plans of switching to Nokia, or anything else for that matter.

Synching was a great convenience during my T68i and P900 days. I am still hopeful it will come back soon. Remember, in the past few years all new phones went through a period of non-synchability untill Apple updated iSynch for new models.

For my immediate needs, sending my contacts to the P990 in one chunk was a good start. And I think I will wait for a more polished solution.

Treavor,

Did you know you can browse through your C and D drives on the P990 like you were in the Finder? Copy to and from, create folders, and put things anywhere you like?

Try it. I don't know if something like this is possible on a PC!

@Symbiatico,

No worries dude. I was just trying to make a point that to post something without backing it up is purely speculation and can lead to misleading people. If .... has a link to provide backup to his claim, so much the better. This helps everyone out, but there is no guarantee that SE nor Apple will provide a sync conduit to these new phones. SE has gone and changed the way the phone works, not Apple. SE changed the USB Mass Storage profile to now the phone will not be recognized under Mac OS X. They changed the OBEX over syncML over BT. This is not the problem of Apple but of SE. I have written them and gotten their incredibly stupid, blame dispersal replies. They blame Apple for the fact that their phone does not work with iSync even though in the SE White Paper it states that the phone will work with iSync, so SE is the problem. Not Apple.

Thanks for the advice everyone.
Did you all know that 4smartphone.net website is not up?

@symbiatico

No, i didn't know that. I don't have a P990 yet. I was kind of asking here to help my decision. You mean that the when you pair the phone with your mac, the internal and memory stick show up in the finder and you can drag to the phone?
that's great, i couldn't do that with P910. Is that all you have to do or are there other steps?

Does anyone have any insight about keeping my work contacts and my personal contacts both on the phone? It seems like something a lot of people would want to do and i was surprised you couldn't do that on P910. what options do you think there are in that situation?

@Trevor,

Try this: http://www.4smartphone.net/Default.aspx. It was up today when I tried it and they redesigned the look of the site so this could have been the reason. It works just fine as does their service application. If you get the P990, make sure you download and install the Exchange client as well. You will need this to make things work.

Cheers

Hmmm, i sent an email to their sales account and didn't get a reply within 3 days. Doesn't make me feel fantastic about their support.

Do you know if it would be possible to sync 2 contact folders to the P990 with their service (i can't believe more people don't want to do this).
