Yeah, I mean why would they even allow the phone to start charging phone if you had it switched on.
If it was such a bad idea, surely your phone would say "Hold on Big guy, turn the goddamn phone off first before you stick any stiff metal rod shapel objects in me!"

I don't think so. My reason is that most car adapters with speaker phone also charges the batt. So you use the phone while it is charging.

I use my phone while charging all the time and it hasnt seemed to effect my battery in any way.
