As an user of the P-series it was obvious to buy a P990i. Even befor I knew about it ... It got all the stuff I need and some more. So why not buy it? I am keeping this phone for a loooong time now, so I wantet to buy something good when I first bought it

I owned a P900 for over 2 years and loved it. I was always a fan of the small flip phones (Moto V50/Samsung A300) but I now go for function over form.
I saw the P990 as the natural upgrade from the P900 - I never viewed the P910 as enough of a leap forward to merit an upgrade.
Anyway, back onto topic! I use my P990 for WiFi web browsing, viewing the BBC Breakfast podcast each morning, video phone calls to my wife when I'm alone in work on a late shift, MP3, Radio, Vijay Singh Golf and the occaisonal phone call & text!
It also feels really solid, even compared to my P900, the only flimsy feeling part of the phone is the battery cover.
I use the camera rarely, but when I do, the quality is impressive, especially on "Fine" setting.

I use it for much the same as I used my P910 -
I work in a busy neurosurgery department.
Excel - keeps track of patient operation notes, drug doses, patient details in for an ongoing study.
Word and Notes - useful info garnered from meetings and my consultants ( "pearls of wisdom " - invaluable for exams !)
Calendar - helpful as I juggle appointment dates for clinic patients, admissions, planned operations
Browser - Opera8 very fast

, can look up medical info / journals online while on ward rounds !
Camera - FINALLY I have a decent cam to take pics of patient scans ( for articles , talks, and yes we occasionally MMS the pics to a consultant for a 2nd opinion ! Telemedicine for a state hospital ! )
SMS - the hopspital paging system not always reliable, we residents often sms each other to streamline managing the ward, theatre cases etc( LOVE the qwerty keyboard on P990 )
PDF - view journal articles
MP3 player/ radio - great when you're sitting in theate at 3am waiting to operate !
Plus phone, sms, camera etc for social ...
Love my P990 !

I want a P990I because:
I am a forgetfull bugger sometimes, I alway's remember things if I write them down so I will in a list on the task manager in the P990.
I want a smartphone with a decent camera that's worth having, and a light that I can use in emergency's.
I want it because it works with Apple Macs.
There will be loads of software for it.
It looks cool.
It's a Sony Ericsson.
I had a P800I years ago and sold it on Ebay but wish I didn't, but the keypad was dreadful, solved now there all electronic.
It's nice to use a device that doesn't run bloody Windows!! Break away from the norm.
Windows 5 and it's predecessors IMO has the most boaring and glum looking interface their is. The Symbian one is much smarter.
I can get great help and advice from fellow P990 peeps on these forums.
You get a nice keypad with a 5 way pad on it for playing games, and a useable qwerty keyboard as well in one device, not many WM devices have that.
I'm a gadget freak, so having the top of the range SE phone will be exciting!! And it will organize my life too.

Errr, appolloa...
Unfortunately the only thing that works between Mac and P990 ATM is bluetooth.
The PC suite isn't written for Mac, there is no iSync and a Mac won't see the phone if connected by a USB cable.
Hopefully these issues will be addressed by either SE or Apple...

@Aqualung.
That's a bugger then! Well I don't have a Mac...yet... But by the time I get one they will no doubt fix the problem.
Thanks for the tip.

Hi guys (and gals), Its been a hell of a long time since I posted or even visited Esato. I feel like I have missed out on a lot of changes!!
I have just placed an order for a P990i from Orange. After reading so many negative reviews it was done reluctantly! I hope that the new phone wont sour my view of SE and now I have to say goodbye to the solid, trusted, and dependable P900.
So what apps are must haves?

Hi everybody!
I am considering buying P990 mainly for Blackberry service. But my problem is that it not launched yet in Hong Kong and Blackberry service may not be available even after it is launched.
Have anybody used Blackberry service with P990? My service provider says M600 has encountered a lot problem with Blackberry emails and therefore may not be introduced this service with P990.

Hi Indiandawg,
For the problem with RAM I suggest to you to get SwissManager (free or Pro).
This program is fantastic! My p990 stays with one charge at least 2,5 days with many talking and with use of Bluetooth handsfree (Jabra). A very nice program - like swiss knife.
