@boining - im in the same boat as you. started with t28, then p800 then p910i....i am leaning towards a p990 coz of the wifi and cam, there are times i just want to get away from my vaio as i'm already in front of it the whole time, but still want to be able to surf while watching tv or in hotspots (got a tmobile total internet with hotspot, so wifi is a plus), also, with wifi, i can go the the datacenter from time to time without my notebook...
...however, the m600 and w950 are also on my list as they have same features less the wifi and cam...speaking of which how is the camera of the p990? the p910 camera sucks like hell...how does it compare to the 3.2 megapixels of n93?
oh thanks for the replies guys....if i get a p990, then i will let go of the p910, how much do they (p910 nd p990) go now?
btw what is a HTC TYTN?

htc is a brand of phones, they are quite popular, but most people who have one and had a symbian phone have all gone back to symbian.
the P990i is the best choice, and i'm sure most owners here are happy with it and won't change it for the world

Well chosing a new mobile phone to upgrade to, depends on your needs. The things you want from a phone. So if you like smartphones (as the P990 is a smartphone) you should go for it. It has faster and much more powerful processor and also has great operating system features (Symbian OS) which makes your smartphone like your pocket computer

. It can be used for almost everything. Listening to music, taking excellent high quality pictures and recording videos with the 2 megapixel camera, browsing the internet, managing your calls and contacts, great calendar and etc... This do not means that the normal phones, (not the smartphones) cannot do this stuff, but their processor is slower, so you have not the same opportunities to install good application to your phone. The Java application for the standard phones are great, but not that good as the Sumbian ones. The video recording is not that good and etc... which puts the normal phones to place right behind the smartphones. So the choice is yours.
Thanks

@bart, I'm curious where you found that statistic about htc owners going back to symbian
I think its been fairly even, even here on Esato. I'm one of the ones who dumped the P990 in favour of the TyTN for reasons that I have posted many times. Mind you I still use the M600 as much as the TyTN but I don't think its the operating system so much as the form factor
now, if they could make a TyTN as slim as the M600 I'd be shot of the M600 quicker than you can say UIQ3

well, you could start with our thread -
P990 vs HTC TyTn
here is the official product page
I've been using windows mobile (pocketpc) since day 1 but I have also used all the P series. So far the only symbian phone that has my attention is the M600.
Even as an avid SE user (which is why I am here) I have always had a windows mobile device along side all the SE phones I have owned from T68/T68i/T610/Z600/T630/K700/K800 etc etc but the P series just never gives me as much usability as the WM devices.
Its good to have an open mind, I do too, and often use both WM and SE symbian along side each other and the M600 is the first SE I just cannot give up!

@Boinng
How can I get you wrong! It's just the oposite, I fully understand you. That's why I like this forum so much, it can be called oneness in diversity.
@Bangsters
As you can see on this kind of question you will always get many different answers and the final decision is eventually up to you. I can't speak about other phones because I don't own them but when it comes to P990 it is as I said before - absolutely amazing phone!

Having had the HTC phone before (I-mate) the truth is that it is like having a windows mobile PDA with a tin can quality phone attached to it. Did not work for me.
The one thing you cant dispute about UIQ and S60 smartphones is that they are proper phones and really good PDA's too. A few things to fix up, no doubt, but too does Windows have - and I'd rather have a phone that doesnt sound like $5 first before the PDA.

If you want a touch screen, then the P990 is the way to go. Fun to use.

so bugs wise for the p990 is false?? i mean the p800 before and p910 were not perfect when they first came out...but now stable as hell...
also, i got my fiance the new N80 from nokia, and as good a phone as it is, i wouldn't swap my p910i for it, and it's already been 2yrs old

that says a lot about SE
