i really want to get the w950 but the thing is, it doesn't come with wifi and camera, so i opted to go for the p990 and hope someone will port the music app to the p990. just wishing... but if it can be done, then why not?

I tend to agree with OfficeMaven. If you want to have the features then you should buy the phone. It is being marketed as a Walkman phone while the P990 isn't. There is reason that the W950 has features the P990 doesn't.

No. Actually there is no good reason. None at all.
A customer who has bought a phone should be offered the change to get these kinds of software/firmware options, whether for free or a small fee.
The idea that you must get rid of a good hardware, just to get new capabilities that can svery well be enabled on the old one, is simply outdated. And dangerous even.
We are no longer in a limitless consumer world. There is pollution piling up everywhere and we are wasting resources that future generations need. And by the way, mobile phones are some of the most polluting devices because they use heavy metals that cannot be recycled easily.
So SE and all the other phone companies will need to stop playing this "buy another phone" game in their attempt to rip consumers off. particularly Nokia as well with their "feature pack" nonsense.
Sorry but there is no place for it any longer. We all should - and DO - know better.

Eldar from Mobile Review hinted some time ago of the possibility of the Walkman app being available for the P990i.........
.......as it is

's flagship product, shouldn't it have everything??
And I've always been of the impression that smartphones(especially) were supposed to be(to an extent) futureproof?? The notion that one should sacrifice a camera OR wi-fi to have a tweaked, branded media player is somewhat disturbing in itself......

It's called marketing. If your models were correct there would be no Ferrari or Porsche. All would be the same. If you want more features, you pay for them. Everyone should know this as well.

well, my take on the whole matter is that if the top phone of the sony ericsson is the P990i then if I buy it I expect it to have all the features of the lesser value sony ericsson phones or at least I can add it to my phone because I paid top dollar for it.

@ jerrymaguire - are you waiting in for an SE engineer to come around and fit your P990i with 4GB of flash memory as well?
Perhaps he'll shave a few mm off the height, width and depth too? Surely SE's top phone should be the smallest and lightest?
The fact is the P990, W950 and M600 are all aimed at slightly different niches. None of them are "the best" for everyone - even with the Walkman player, your P990 is still bigger and heavier than a W950 and there are plenty that would choose the latter because of that. Likewise, there are some that don't like the P990's bulk but would still choose a keyboard over a Walkman player, so they'd go for the M600. It's horses for courses.
Some might say the P990 already suffers slightly from attempting to be a "jack of all trades" - I don't see why it should be retrospectively kitted out with the advantages of every other phone in the range.

anyway, its a matter of time, untill someone manages to extract it from a w950 and make it available to other uiq 3 devices
that wonīt mean we will get the same sound quality on a p990 than on a w950, i donīt believe the difference is only software based
