Don't know siandy, I've been treating my batteries the same way since my r320s and they're all fine (I have bought an extra battery for the r320s). As a matter of fact I still use the original battery for my r320s and it working fine after 6 years. Same with my t610 and 2 months ago I bought me a new k700i battery and did the same- use it till it depletes completely then charge it. Never had any problems whatsoever. So,for me I see no point in charging for 16 hours.

As i say before charging for "the first time" ( 3-5 first charge) don't have anyting to do with battery lifetime... it get you better chance to maximised their capacity. And as i say before, you might not even realize the difference cause almost every end user charging their battery everyday ( it's like a warming up, if you do better warming up, it get you better chance to optimised your sport performance,, but doesn't mean if you don't warming up you will get injured)... but there is nothing wrong if charging your new battery while you sleep... it won't blow off cause there is protective ic inside

The batteries only charge till they're full and no more, so there's nothing to be gained from leaving it on any longer than it takes for a full charge - though no harm can come from it either, and to be honest I usually leave mine on overnight simply out of convenience.

It's definitely worth waiting for it to fully deplete before charging again, and always charge it all the way back up again, not in drips and drabs. I don't care what people say about Li-pols not suffering memory effect - their capacity is diminished if you just top up all the time. I think this is why a lot of Ipods get complaints about poor battery life - it's because they charge from USB, and are constantly getting little top-ups whenever people sync them with itunes, getting the batteries horribly out of condition. A few proper full charging cycles with a dedicated charger can do them a world of good. I generally have my M600i set to not charge from USB unless I know it needs a full charge and I only have USB available - it's a shame Ipods don't have this option.

I'm probably on my fifth or sixth full charging cycle with my M600i, and I'm getting a good four days out of it now - pretty good for a smartphone with such a small battery. I wouldn't be surprised if it improved some more.

@boinng
Agree with you... lifetime of a battery count on how many times you charge for it. Good battery will have about 1000 charging times, even if li-ion doesn't have emory effect but better charge it till full and not to charge using usb cause the electicity is unstable and usually don't have enough power to fully charge your phone. Use proper charger for sure.

Charge until it says it is full. The charger will stop charging when it is, this is according to Sony Ericsson's support technicians.
