I had the very same problem on Saturday.Friday I turned off the pc then on Sat.it couldn't boot giving me message NTR...or something like that,is missing,so l installed windows on a slave HDD and when l turned it on I couldn't see my old HDD on it,only one drive was showing instead of two.What then?I removed all the HDDs and mounted them back again.Switched on pc and it booted from the old HDD with all my files & settings there.STRANGE!!!And it's working like a charm now!

No progress whatsoever cant get in to safe mode the file that is described as CORRUPT or MISSING is \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM thanks for the feedback guys

been scouring th net on my phone found microsofts fix for this specific problem i'm half way thru but now i have to log on as administrator in SAFE MODE i have windows running again but it will NOT BOOT IN SAFE MODE aarrghh it's a Mesh pc. Anyone ?

well...how did you fix it? if i'd noticed this thread i would have told you to boot up your XP CD, go into the recovery console and login to your current system then type 'fixmbr' and then say yes or y. then it'll fix you mbr (sounds like the problem...but if it got fixed by doing a repair install...it'll do that, but alot of other things aswell.

you should of just repaired the installation (re install the system files). that would of fixed it and kept your data
