and not to forget even the old sharp 902 and then the 903 both had optical zoom, both were way out in front of the competition camera wise when they were released
shame it looks like they have pulled out of the UK now

thats nice to know. for a minute there i was wondering why we at the greater part of the world have been raving about the 3.2 mega pixel if a 5 MP + optical zoom camera has been for ages, then at the corner of my eye i saw "for Japan use only"
Japan has always been at the forefront of technology; this doesnt come as a surprise

See this is what puzzles me. If
can compete in the Japanese market and Sharp has had optical zoom on handsets for over a year, why are we waiting?
What is the big barrier that is stopping these features appearing in the European market? I mean its not as if people haven't got the money to splash out on these expensive gadgets is it? The S700i had a list price of £499 when it was launched and that was basically a K700i with a large screen, 1.3mp ccd lens and expandable memory!

I take it when you say no 2x or 3x Optical you are talking about what is available in SE's range of phones as i have 3.2megapixels and 3x Optical zoom.
