"Could I take you up on your offer? Im running Vista at the mo, and Nero 6 is not compatible with that, so all I have is windows disc burner.
Ill upload the file on megaupload, and have sent it to the email address you have in your profile.
Fingers Crossed it works."
I'm running Windows Vista at the moment too. But instead of Nero 6 I use Nero 7. Th compatibility with CD/DVD burning software varries in different versions of Vista. Currently I'm running the RC1 Windows Vista 5600 Enterprise edition which is GREAT, and have not any problems with my programs at all. After all you can use any other sound editor to do that (e.g. Sony Sound Forge 8 ).
P.S. About the song you wanted to get in your phone, I've done the rerecording and sent it to your mail so check for it. And report me if it works or not, because I'm interested if it will work, because it worked great in my phone after the recording and converting it to various file formats.
Thanks

Hi,
Firstly, big thanks. The file works perfectly. No fails here. Though I can notice quite a lot of difference when listening through headphones, there i s hardly any difference when using the W810i speakerphone.
I was curious, could you try the original file in your phone, and tell me if that works? It it works in your phone and not mine, I think its a problem with the phone and I may try reformatting my phone via master reset.
However if it doesn't work in your phone either, the Sony Ericsson must have a problem with that type of file.
Could you perhaps tell me what master reset actually deletes, if you know.
Thanks for all the help so far.

I've pinpointed the problem. Basically, the file worked with my old card, because I was using Disc2Phone software on Windows XP to "re-encode" files meaning they would definetly work with the phone.
With the current disc2phone software, it is not actually re-encoding the files, as it simply puts a file of the same bitrate as on the computer, onto the phone. This is because Disc2phone it is not totally compatible with Vista.
I had wondered why tracks were being transferred so quickly between vista and the W810i.
This is the only logical conclusion. When I get hold of a XP system again, I will put "shy boy" through Disc2Phone and see if it work.
I've heard that some songs directly copied and pasted through windows explorer did not work, and Im guessing "shy boy" is one of those that MUST go through Disc2Phone software and get re-encoded as you said strizlow800, you were correct.
I only realised when I re-burned the cd album into a WMA format, and tried to put that through Disc2phone, it started encoding the tracks, visually this can be seen by the graphical animation going up to 50% and pausing for the tracks being transferred (whereas with my Mp3 files going through Disc2Phone, they simply went from 0 straight to 100%, meaning they were not being re-encoded to the bitrate I specified.)

OK, I've tried the original file you sent me "01 Shy Boy" and it fails on my W800 too. So the problem is definately in the song, not your phone or mine

Thanks for all the help.

Hey Prom1
I guess you resolved your white screen of death issue?
I had a scare not too long ago after pulling the USB plug to early.
Got it to work after I reformatted the disk.... It corrupted the disk to the point of freezing...
