I'm not sure I agree with your assessment regarding volume being strictly dictated by the handset. From what I have read, volume limitations are defined by both handset and headset, regardless of connection.
So back to my original question, using the P990 or M600 as the constant, and comparing the 2 variable Sony and Nokia headsets, is there a difference in volume?
Bottom line, I simply want a louder BT headset. If anyone can please provide feedback regarding this, it is much appreciated.

Point taken. I was actually talking about maximum volume between the two. Unfortunately, I don't have another bluetooth headset to compare with.
