Well, as far as i know they use a small motor with a metal weight on the axle to make it unbalanced and vibrate, the vibrator in my old siemens s55 is 17mm x 5mm x 10mm and it provides powerful vibration. But it also takes a fair amount of space so it's understandable that they're not as powerful because they're forced to miniaturize the motors and any other methods of vibration i can think of take too much power to be effective.(remember, it takes a fair amount of power to make a call in the first place)

i think we are just getting older and our "vibration-sense" is getting weaker and weaker as time goes by
as rolling stones said, what a tragedy is, getting old....

Yeah, old phones just had a lot more space to fit the vibrators. Look at console controllers (not the PS3), they have really powerful ones because of the size.

And sometimes it could be to protect the components (camera etc.). Wel the N90 doesn't have vibrate, so maybe we should be happy with what we've got

My P900 has indeed a very powerful vibratecall - those who think otherwise must be wearing too many underpants if they cannot feel it ringing in the pocket... ;-) Marry Christmas

I agree, my first phone was a samsung I don't even remember the model, and it vibrated really strongly. now my latest phones have weaker speakerphones, weaker earpieces, weaker vibras... honestly, what's the path mobile phones are taking?
