its not entirely solved, but the phone is not buggy any more, contacts open fast, videos open fast, phone takes less to boot, etc...has i see it, most people that were in anger with it, are now quite pleased, but there´s still work to do for SE...anyay, things should now be quicker, because of UIQ aquisition

pachy, have you tried any other phones/PDA's?
Its just so upsetting that SE hand out P990 with all the issues there is, you find them everywhere in this forum.

I am very pleased with my P990 from the very first day and don't yet upgraded to the new fw (generic Italy). I can't see some real fact in statement that P990 is disappointment in its features. I would rather say that it's features are at this point even to good to be true. People are angry for bugs (which I never experienced) and memory problem and that anger is justified but as I can see the new fw solved a lot of things. I own a P910 and IMO it can't compare to P990, a real toy for it. It is one thing to prefer a slimmer, smaller, faster phone but something completely different to say P990 is disappointment in it's features.

Good point. What features (or lack of) are you disappointed with anyway? The way I see it, most of the dissatisfactions are directed at the P990's features not working properly due to lack of ram and/or bugs.

not sure what you mean?
if you buy one of the most expensive machines and supposedly most advanced you should be able to expect a lot more than:
- blackberry non-compatability
- poor active sync compatability (but better than BB)
- battery last one day
- daily shut-downs
- slow in-between menues
- constant RAM problem
- extremely sensetive key-lock buttom causing all sort of mess
- not shutting down properly - when on an aircraft f.ex
- poor phone functionality
- poor phone reception, when receiving a mail call cuts off
- querty keyboard fine but to slow when typing, missin initial taps
- its really bulky, thats fine and expected, had a P910 before this but cant take it with all the other issues and after using my Samsung there is no turning back
- etc etc
Really guys, fine that many things are fixed with lates FM but its to late, I lost confidence, being swedish and all SE completely failed in this case. For that money more is expected.
One thing that works fine is TomTom, but again, RAM issues everytime starting up - if active sync is up which it is all the time obviously..

...and by the way....just read through the new FM thread...
unbelivable, do one really dare to upgrade with all "new" issues?
unheard of for brands in the SE league (Nokia, Motorola...)
....have not had one issue with my Samsung SGH-i320 - three weeks now...

Sory bjorn but simply can't agree with you. First of all I did read the fm thread here and at my symbian and as I can see the new fw is fantastic improvement. There are some guys who IMO have their specific phone problem that has nothing to do with the new fw (if one read carefully), so in terms of that realy don't know your point.
Second, I have P990 and can't subscribe to almost any of your view as even with older fm I found my phone fulfilling all my needs without so called daily crashing, bugs, or what else did you mentioned. I read your post and simply can't apply your points to my phone (I don't use bbc). If you find samsung or any other phone better it's perfectly ok cause everybody has it's own preferences but there are also a lot of people who are very satisfied P990 users including myself.

Hi koto, statistically, if you check out my-symbian's poll, for every 4 - 5 users who are dissatisfied with their P990i, only 1 is satisfied. So that makes it almost 80% dissatisfied vs 20% satisfied.

@bjorne
ScottXe said in his first post that he's unhappy with the phone's features. I'm asking what features he's unhappy with. You hate your P990, koto likes his. Fair enough. We all agree however, that further improvements are welcome. May I suggest ranting in a more...constructive way?
adnhk1 mentioned that the transitions option was removed because users were happy with the speed. It seems that SE is listening. Not listening very attentively, but listening. So instead of listing generic complaints, why don't we address specific problems that can be (realistically) rectified in a FW upgrade?
