No dude,this is for desktop.For servers there is 'woodcrest' aka quad core xeon..
There will be a mainstream quadcore soon as rumours suggest,itll be known as Q6600 at a lower price...

Yup. This is for home users. For hardcore pc enthusiasts who wants the best desktop processor available today. Servers are a completely different field. Thats where the xeons and the opterons come into picture. I would rather overclock a dual core processor which i should get at half the price of this baby. We've gotta wait for multithreaded applications to really take advantage of those 4 cores. But yes it is the best desktop processor money can buy as of now.

This is the first public models of the Kentsfield (Quad) core. They are only released as Core 2 Extreme right now, but will also be released as Core 2 Quad later on. The Extreme series is intended for workstations for 'extreme power users', while the Core 2 Quad probably will be a bit cheaper... (Wikipedia has a lot more info about this in the
Intel Core 2 article.)

Just letting you all know that intel has launched Q6600 (mainstream quad) at CES,its running at 2.4Ghz, FSB of 1066MT/s and 8MB L2 cache.
The price is on higher side atm,but itll come down soon.

AMD have a piss poor platform called 4x4 which is two dual core processors on one motherboard, obviously with each CPU needing a heatsink, ad 2 sticks of RAM each. But there is only one motherboard supported. They should be coming out with better offerings later on this year.
