TomTom is the best without doubt - also relatively cheap - works like a dream! Tried all over Europe, speed-cameras etc everywhere!

Maybe my post wasnnt clear,

Tomtom hardly uses an internet connection thats why people like it.

It IS available for use on P990 if you buy the cheap package with software on cd or memorycard between £55 & £95

Package with UK "&" Western europe maps is best value, check because some are just UK

It IS the best satnav for P990

It costs next to nothing to use, NOTHING if you just use as a system to guide you to destinations

A very good 32 channel GPS bluetooth unit can b bought off ebay (the one i use) is the Holox BT 321, get brand new for under £30 inc post, i got a car charger off bay for £4, although some sellers do the Holox with free in car charger. remember i said HOLOX not Holux !

Thanks very much for the thoughts on a BT GPS receiver. Think I will pick up a Holox just now, and buy the TomTom software later -- I don't do much driving and have a demo copy of Webraska (from Orange) at the moment.

Thanks again,

I've just bought a TomTom 6 on Ebay, still needs to be delivered. I'll keep you posted when I get it.
Please have a look at it here and tell me if you think it's a good one.

Now I'm on search of a good BT receiver. I already found some but keep looking to make the best deal.

I'd also like to buy a 4Gb memory card as I don't want to switch cards all the time if I've to use the NavSat.

Does anybody have a 4Gb memory card in his P990i ?

Cheers,

Hi guys,

I got another question : can someone explain to me what's the importance of the number of channels on a GPS receiver ?
Some have 16, 20 or 32 channels... which role do these channels play for a good navigation system ?

Thanks,

Im a little confused as to how this works. Do you firstly buy a Bluetooth GPS reciever? Does that sit in your car all the time, and when you get into the car it syncs up by bluetooth to your phone and acts as a GOS reciever.

Do you then purchase software to be able to run the Phone as a sat nav system?

Also, whats the speed/quality like compared with a standard sat nav system. So, what is it like compared to having a real Tom Tom unit?
