Just been to the O2 store and saw this XDA Atom. That looks really appealing. It feels a lot smaller than the P990i and nicer to hold. The only downside is it doesnt have a qwerty keyboard. Am I right in saying that the Atom has a built-in GPS reciever thus can be used as a sat-nav unit?

What do you think.

Wait, it could have been the XDA Orbit (bad memory)

@firetech
not if you work with active sync, i.e outlook, coming from blackberry, its really a to long way to go AND compared to Blackberry and now windows mobile it feels out of time
the machine is incomplete, they should have waited and made it all ready, its a shame as I was waiting for such long time, bought all stuff, 4mb card, battery (BST-34) thats still not delivered, all sort of chargers and cabels

just couldnt take all the problems - now as 2nd machine for the twin-card, Samsung is so much slimmer as well

you keep insisting in "all the problems", when they are most corrected with last firmware...

According to a number of sources, the BST-34 was canceled, and will be replaced by BST-40. I guess was just too hasty about telling the stores about it, I've seen many internet stores that have got it in their system (but not in stock).

@joshiestevens:
For a phone, it's a little bit bulky yes, but since it replaces both my Z600, my Palm Vx and my old 64MB MP3 player, it's not bulky at all. Everything is relative

Exactly, everything is relative. For me the size is fantastic as I couldn't accept an iota smaller screen and querty is a must have.

I have a P990i and a Windows Mobile phone as well. I personally prefer the look and feel of P990i over Windows Mobile, though neither is perfect.

I have the latest version of Windows Mobile but not the latest firmware for the P990i.

Still my choice would be the P990i.

I would alway's recommend a P990I. I had my first 'Restarting to improve performance' the other day when switching to flight mode and that was after nearly a month of use with the now old firmware!!!
Love it, it's a great device and I STILL haven't read the instruction manuel so it's very easy to use IMO, mines on Orange and I like the Orange interface, some don't. It can replace your Ipod especially with the stereo bluetooth headset, performs well and has one of the best cams of any touchscreen smart phone. It may not be HCSPDA 3.5G but it does offer video calling camera and the qwerty keyboard is usable with my fat thumbs, you swear it's useless till you actually use it!!
Great phone that has a lot for it's size, the Symbian OS looks ssoooooo much better then Windows smart phone OS as well I think.

We should know on Monday if Apple are releasing a smart phone as well. Still also wondering where these rumuoured fancy new Nokia communicators are?? Nokia seem to of neglected that range at the mo.

So true indeed. The keys are just stiff enough to make mispresses impossible. I have yet to press the wrong key, actually...

And regarding the performance-restarts: IIRC, I've had about 4 of them, but only with the old firmware, and only one after installing Swiss Manager Pro (trial, was planning to buy it) with "flip cleaning" on (the restart was during very heavy use). With the new fw, I've actually returned to the free version, and seldom use it (no autocleaning on either). has clearly worked on the memory issues.
