i did that because i also felt before that even i maximize my volume, i could still hear some noise while using my headset
anyway it sounds alright when maximizing all.. try it

few days ago i bought some sennheiser cx300 headphones and it's a noticeable difference between them and hpm-70. it sound better and louder, i'm somewhat happy now, tough it's definitely room for improvement. maybe the next firmware...

I have a K800i too, but my friends K750i sounds much louder.
Actually, I didn't try it, but I did the same thing to a friend's K750 using Far Manager (well, ok not the exact same thing, since K750 uses apf files instead of zapf) and the playback volume was equal to the ring volume.
The ring volume is louder than playback volume on K800 too, so I guess that the same thing could be done.
If you want, I can upload farfield_ring.zapf and farfield_play.zapf (in case you want to revert) from a K800 extracted firmware since topsony is down, and you won't be able to easily find these files.

just to remind you that when you do this im sure you will complain about the quality of the sound....coz it will be shitty..but thats really the bad part my 750 owns my k800 in terms of music

the k800i is great for music. Ive got a few tips to get the most out of them. As every1 says get the hmp 70 headset. There alot louder and ave amazing bass!
Then set the equaliser to the preset bass. Then adjust it manualy to the same as that, apart from the far left one put to the top. Then you get great bass and it's louder 2.
Sit back and enjoy the music, I listening to snow patrol at the mo.
