I agree a lot with Caspa, I also had the Blackberry 8700 before and it was better as a mailing device. I mean it was lightning quick when it came to e-mail. I wrote faster with the blackberry keyboard than I do with the P990 as well. Even things like scrolling can be painfully slow on the P990 with BBC. But the p990 feels more complete. It's about 130% cooler. As an audio device blackberry was quite bad. I listen a lot to audiobooks, I just love it, sending a 1gb audiobook to the memcard and off you go.

I have no issues at all with bb connect with the new firmware. With the old firmware and BBC 3.37 it disconnected you everytime you put the 990 in it's cradle wich was quite frustrating making me turn off and on the 990. This is no more. I've never really bothered about how much memory I have on my phone. As long as it works it's fine with me. And since the new firmware my phone has served me well.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the feedback. I still haven't made up my mind though...

I wish I could just try it out since I know it all comes down to personal preference, but I either have to commit to my operator for another 24 months or take a risk on eBay.

I might just wait to see if there is an M600 replacement with camera and WiFi announced at 3GSM, otherwise I'm sure I'll sucumb to the lure of the P990i...

Have a look at Samsung SGH-i600 (I have SGH-i320), out in Sweden in February, I'm waiting for one

Camera only 1,3pix but takes good pics, wifi, edge etc...windows mobile and I'm set up with active sync

So much smaller than P990 and without bugs, Samsung a worthy replacement for my Blackberry, BB connect works bad with P990, active sync ok but not perfect

I don't like the general design of Samsung SGH-i600, but I like the fact that it's thin. Compare it to chunky Qtek 9100 and it seems super slim.

I really don't care for Windows Mobile though (not to imply that UIQ3 is perfect by any means), but maybe it'll work better on the Samsung than on the Qtek.

Oh, and I admit to being shallow. I always thought that Blackberrys look like something that mutated and escaped the yuppie lab. A retro look. I just briefly looked at the GUI and it also felt dated. But I understand from reading this thread that they do what they're supposed to do.
