In the Job i do I have to speak to Indian Call Centers all day and beleive you me its hard work.
I have admiration for the People in India because its not just difficult for me to undertsand them, but its the same the other way round.
I dont just speak to Indian Call centers, but Poland too. I have to say that that ive learnt alot about the countires, people and language too.
**
I am with Orange and they use an Indian Call Center who i have to admit are sometimes better than the UK call Centers (I thought i would never say that)
I have spoke to 3 many times and have found them to be not bad
Very polite and helpful, (again when i could under stand them)
Tiscali (support) are base in india and again not too bad.
But its very dificult with all call centers (I know i work in one)
I do prefer to speak to a UK call center, Its easier and the language barrier is so much better. But there doesnt seem to be many around.
The problem is when you have a problem, they only work of a basic script so anything out of the ordinary and they dont know what to say and do.

Sometimes they are OK, sometimes they are terrible.
I was waiting for a cheque to clear once and the CSR told me it would be 5 working days from the Tuesday when it was deposited. So I phoned back the week after on a Wednesday (6 working days later) and another CSR told me it hadn't cleared yet saying it would clear on Wednesday.
I said "but today is Wednesday!"
He then told me today was Tuesday.
I said "but today is Wednesday!"
He said "No sir, today is Tuesday"
I then checked the date on Sky TV, checked the time difference and it was still Wednesday so I asked to speak to a supervisor. He then went off line for a few minutes, came back and hung up!
This was after waiting in a queue for god knows how long.
GRRRrrrr!
Thanks Abbey National - great service.

I really dont like these call centers. They cant understand you and you cant understand them.
Its worse for my old grandad and gran. they cant understand anything said from these call centers and always get something they dont want etc.
All the UK companies who use forein call centers must haave known it would be like this. I've just seen that direct line ad where there advertising UK only call centers. At the moment i think thats what most should be thinking about doing!

I read and article a few months ago about companies doing a u-turn on outsourcing to India etc.
Natwest too has UK only call centres.

Just happened to glimpse through this thread.. Was reminded of a pretty funny short movie i had recently seen about indian call centres... I think you might find it funny too.. It's about 12 minutes long and can be found free here :

The end kind of puts things into perspective.. Great short film...
Cheers

intersting read this.. i work in an indian call centre and i can definately tell u (from personal experience) that when u call in askin for help, its best to have a positive and receptive attitude.. it sucks to be on the other end of the line when all you get to listen to is rants and pissed off morons who cant plug 2 wires in properly. all said and done.. i've helped quite a few ppl who have asked for help politely and patiently and to the others who 'thought' they were right all the time.. i couldnt care less..
