Congratulations! I got mine just 3 days ago despite of all the shortcomings that I've read here and other forums. I considered the Nokia N80 and N93 but having owned the P900 and P910 (still functional), it is only natural for me to go with the flow and get the P990. The phone came with the R7 fw and wasn't sure if I should just go ahead and update to the latest fw. I played with it for a day or two and it never rebooted on me but while working on contacts, I got the error on several occasions and shut the program down. That made me decide to update.
The latest sofware is doing good so far and just transferred all my contacts from my old phone last night without a hitch. The only thing that I've noticed with the new fw that when you enter your pin or password after turning the phone ON, the number would show for about 1/2 a second before turning into an asterisk(*).
Enjoy your phone. I just wish mine came with instructions in English and I missed the 5-way jog dial.
Here are some pics along with my wife's Dash.

Welcome to the esato,
A little advice for you, use a screen protector from the fast time, or you'll have some scratch on screen.
Is it possible to change the top part of the screen? My friend’s has a PDA, that’s screen (a hard plastic sheet) can change normally, even that PDA come with extra 3 sheets.

I am not new at esato.
I'm here since 2003, long before P800 was released.
So, 4GB with P990i.Nice.
I already updated the FW to R9... since it had R7... something and entering Radio made him to crash quite often.
R9 is more stable I think.
I need also to replace the original headphones that came with the phone. They do not sound good at all.
I am quite amazed about how many things it can do.
I have seen it has a graphic accelerator that is used inside the golf game.looks fantastic.
thanks for the wishes.

I have 1 question though.
P900 has a green led that blinks when conneted to the GSM network and turns red while charging with the phone off.
P990i has also a led that is green during charging, but it does not blink when the phone is on the network. It is switched off, even if the phone is working just fine (made calls with it, received calls, SMS etc).
Do you know of this is supposed to blink or not? I think it should blink.
Is is a software bug or something?
And...where can I purchase a DS970 stereo handsfree for a good price?
Thank you.
@R1: nice P9xxx collection you have. I skipped P910. Never liked it and never thought it worth the upgrade. I am going to sell my P900 now.
But for P990i, you can find the english manuals on SE web site.try there.

The LED is not supposed to blink otherwise except for when in the functions described above, I think they disabled the blinking, I didnt like it personally, had it on my w900, reminded me of the old school fones, i remember people modding their phones to turn the LED off.

The LED functionality in P990 is a kind of a new feature for me. It now blinks only after arrival of a new message or a call and I like it. If you are for example out of office to copy something or something else and receive sms or a call meanwhile, just one glimpse on P990 after coming back and you immediately realise it.

@R1:
I saw your comment about missing English instructions. FYI, in case you're still looking for these, you can download them
here.
