Unfortunately, no auto update check on UIQ phones....
Seems there are many functions OSE can perform, but UIQ can't.....

Maybe, if we're really lucky, now have bought UIQ, they'll combine [the good] elements of UIQ and OSE to produce a 'more complete' OS.......

.......should i say 'please'??

OSE and UIQ is a whole diff story only..and i guess P series users can easily understand what am trying to say...!!

lemme tell u UIQ 3.0 has definately...improved from UIQ 2.0 according to my needs and satisfaction ...those little changes which had to be made in UIQ 3.0 ...and what ? OSE? not my type at all...after using p series phones...to be honest...!!

Interestingly, I'm sat here with a K750, K800, P905 AND P990(R7).......

.....oh, and I'm a certified UNIX administrator(since 1999)by trade......

Bearing in mind both OS's are kernel-based, the possibility exists......

But, for your point: I don't want OSE smartphones(over UIQ, anyway), only I feel UIQ would be better if it included certain elements from OSE......oh, and bring back NOR(as OSE phones still have it).......

Hope this makes more sense.....

Would be nice to have an update funtion like on the PSP. Connect the phone over wifi to the internet, check for update, download and install on phone. Restart - done.

some of the latest non symbian SE's have over-the-air (OTA) update facilities but so far I have yet to actually experience that as the updates always seem to be available via SEUS before they are available OTA

I think SE needs to inform about new firm updates as i have noticed that most of the customers are not aware of the updates that are available
