Motorola and Benq are two more vendors offering UIQ phones. And then we have this odd bird.

In fairness, those models are all running UIQ2 on an older Symbian base - which, in its day, was an extremely reliable and robust platform. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for UIQ3, yet - and SE are UIQ3's only customer to date.

I 100% agree with Dogmann that SE will have to make something brilliant for me to buy another one of their phones. Unfortunately i dont see that happening soon.

In their article about what to expect for 2007, the editors of All About Symbian mentioned that two other brands besides SE will gonna launch UIQ 3 devices...

Agree with you guys. Don't like it - don't buy it (or sell it) . Very simple theory but will make things clear in the longer run.

Maybe after se finishes its transaction buying uiq department from symbian, se can gain more control to its source code.
Maybe uiq 3.0 will gaining maturity stage, which is a good news for us, all we can do is a little patient.

Me myself waiting to get p990, until more stable firmware released.
its simple wait it or buy it or leave it

is it too much to just stay on topic? we are not discussing peoples mood and whether we should sell the phone.

i am trying to discuss this rubbish attempt to get developers on board.

and the uiq 2 platform does not apply to this thread... since the competition is for uiq 3.

My TyTN is much more stable than my M600. I am actually pretty disappointed with the M600's stability. Today's the first day I haven't had to pull the battery at least once, and I feel like this is a major accomplishment. Last night I updated again with the same version that was already installed just to see if that would help. It seems to have, but it could also be beginner's luck.

I've used a lot of mobile platforms including UIQ 2.1 and this is by far the worst one I've used yet. It looks great, I like the menus and layout, but the damn thing crashes all the time. There were times when simply answerjing the phone would make it crash! And the menu's are slow. I'd like to see it speed up a bit.

I do like it though. It's a nice phone. It just has some serious issues.

(Oh yes, and I agree that anything that promotes the platform is probably a good thing. It may be a rubbish attempt, but an attempt nonetheless.)

I think anything that encourages UIQ should be applauded.

Despite P990i issues i still think UIQ is the best operating system out there. I find it gives me:
1,Best message writing and execution.
2,Great touchscreen interface.
3, Love the look and logic of it.

It's much better than WM5 and even series 60 has been full of bugs lately.

LONG LIVE UIQ!

Same here. I love my touch screen. I could not live without it. I also love the icons, colours and themes.

LONG LIVE UIQ!
