Poor M600i, suppose to be smart, but made damm by branded softwares.
I am still waiting to see how mine will respond after the generic software.
But I am still wondering what do the operators aichive by putting branded software in cellphones.

I just received this PM from Dogmann:
Hi Ben,
I tried to post this answer but kept getting this Topic does not exist, I had an unbranded version admittedly one firmware prior to the latest.
I agree with all that you say i was looking forward to this phone for a long time and actually waited until the 2nd Firmware was released and was reported as stable. The M600 is a stunning looking device that on paper looks brilliant. This was the last SE smart phone i am ever likely to ever buy it was crap, no logical use of menus everything takes numerous clicks to navigate, it is so slow it was a joke in bright light the screen becomes invisible. How some are so happy with it is totally beyond me, i couldn't wait to get rid of it and sold at a massive loss as was in danger of smashing it to pieces and sending it back to SE. I run a Nokia N93 S60 3rd edition which is just so much faster and better laid out. As of yesterday i now also have a TyTN and although i have only had it less than 24hrs am seriously impressed i am also a T-Mobile Web N Walk customer and even though you can send it configuration SMS it was a doodle to set up and quick the T-Mobile version is the MDA Vario 11 and would think this would be the best solution on T-Mobile for what you need.

I agree as well the M600i looks good but doesn’t do what it says on the label, it’s supposed to be a smart phone its more like a dumb phone & i got mine from SE unbranded, its crap. I will never buy another SE phone unless they can make one that works like they used to do before they got greedy

I'm very happy with my M600 and in fact Dogmann bought my TyTN yesterday and I agree with everything he said and I do miss it now actually.
But when I came to make the choice it was the size that made me choose the way I did. When Windows Mobile with TyTN features comes available in M600 size I will be the happiest guy on the planet but in the meantime (or at least until WM6) the M600 does everything I need. In fact I'm temporarily relpacing the TyTN with the W950 so I'm looknig forward to compare that from tomorrow!
Messaging on the M600 is a breeze and it handles HTML emails better than pocket outlook
RSS is good and I use that alot but I am dissapointed that you cannot setup individual update schedules for each feed like you can for each email account
I have only had 1 performance restart in the last 3 months
really, for its size its a great performer! I just wish it had wifi but I think I read thats coming in the m600 relpacement

Hi Masseusr and all,
I agree the size and configuration and even the styling of the M600 is great it is only the implementation of the interface and IMO lack of speed that detracts. I also do not accept it should be necessary to have to use 3rd party software to help make it run efficiently nor use tricks or the best of all to reset and reformat at short intervals to improve performance and stability. In MO there is no way these products should of even been released till the last firmwares. How much of a more pleasant experience would users of reported and what level of satisfaction would there of been even with the issues still outstanding?
As my main phone for some time been a N93 the size is virtually identical in both footprint and weight to the TyTn. I will choose performance over size every time as this is my preference. Just over 24Hrs with the TyTn and just waiting for a 2GB card to arrive for Music, Pictures, Movies and Videos otherwise everything else is already setup. The full qwerty keyboard is a dream to use and by far the best solution i have seen so far. Everything is easy to understand as it really is my Desktop in my hand my main use is Outlook and at last Skype on my device that both looks and works exactly the same as my Desktop. This impression of WM5 and the TyTn is actually so good that i am considering selling my N93 and replacing it with a Sony DSC-T30 dedicated camera I didn't think I'd ever want to do that.

To fix problem number one, just save your contacts by there first name then their last name or vice versa whichever helps you remember them better, easy.

i must admit that i'm totally confused by this contacts issue. why would you want a device with a full QWERTY keyboard to search for contacts using T9?
Although this thread has brought a small issue to my attention, in that when in the contacts program it DOES NOT display the icon on the top of the screen telling you if it is in text or number mode - this i believe should be fixed. Although the reason i have never noticed this before is because i have never wanted to type a number into the search field - and i dont think i ever will?
I'm not going to have a blast at you for not liking the M600i, but i will say that i believe i made the right informed choice when i decided to upgrade from my P910 to this phone.
I would highly recomend this phone to anybody with the same requirements as me.
P.S. i use ebay on my M600 quite alot and i've had no issues with opera

Firstly -- I really don't see the point in searching for a contact by the phone number, if you know the phone number, just dial it. That's the point of a contact list -- so you don't have to remember phone numbers. I really don't understand the reasoning or the logic behind having to search via the phone numbers. Unless you name your contacts 1, 2, 3.
you've misunderstood how this works. its not the phone number you are keying, it is the letters of the name that you are pressing ala T9 texting
Oh I see what he meant (had to try it out on the TyTn to find out what it was all about).
Then, I realized something .... having a full keyboard on the M600 is there for a reason. Why should you have to do T9 on the contacts list? Am I missing some huge feature here? Sounds like going backwards if you ask me.
When I want to look up a contact, I just start typing their name on the excellent M600 keyboard and there it is! I really don't need to hit the number keys.
Someone please clue me in
Sorry mobman ... I guess you and I posted at the same time (with the same comments)
I noticed that on the contacts setting, it only shows the keyboard icon (indicating text input) but smartly it doesn't give you the option to switch between 123 and text.

RE: The contacts issue. On a Windows phone lets say you are look for Mr Johnson. From the home screen you just press 56 (ie. JO) and it will bring this up. Or of you want to seach for John Smith you just press 56, or if you are looking for Simon from Microsoft who you have filed as 'Simon - Microsoft' you can just start typing MI and it will bring it up.
The point is that you get full string searches of all the names, without having to remember how you sorted the contact list.
The other great thing is that you the received/dialled numbers & names are also included.
I'm guessing a lot of you lot haven't used this otherwise you'd know just how great this feature is.
M600i on the way back to T-Mobile. The battery didn't even make it to 5pm today (after a full mains charge last night).

Hi all,
Well i have to say i absolutely hate T9 always have and always will, but if it works for you and you like it fine. I much prefer being able after typing 2 letters to have four words suggested and find this much faster and efficient. As for looking up Contacts thanks to my new toy and Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 i now no longer need to type anything to look up or call a contact on any of his numbers just press one button and speak.
Making Phone Calls
Showing Contacts
Reading Appointments
Playing Music
Starting Programs
Getting Phone Status
Messaging Alerts
I have only being playing with this for a few hours but so far it is incredibly accurate and very useful and also works with a bluetooth headset just waiting for the HTC A2DP stereo clip headset to come in stock and it also has a 3.5mm port so can attach my own earphones and a microphone for calls. So far i am very happy with the TyTN and impressed with just how good WM5 is on this device it really has progressed from my Ipaq 3970 and what ever version of Windows that was.
