I have the phone for about 1 and a half week now, and the battery goes max 2 days...

A bit strange as i have been reading that the battery could go for much longer... and a bit dissapointed too...

@korbindallis and jakontil: actually there is a 950 mAh battery available for the m600i like the k790i. my m600i actually came with the 950mAh BST-33 so you can probably buy one from a store and just stick it in. my m600 lasts for about 3 days with intermediate usage on GSM only using it.

3G DOES affect the battery life, mainly due to the fact that poor signal strength, in th UK, means that ther handset is frequently "Searching" for the netowrk, which requires much more battery than not searching.

In GSM only mode, the network strength is usually always more than adequste so the handset doesn't have to "search", this is true on Orange and Voda, where the results of changing to GSM only can be seen more than on the other UK networks, as the coverage for these is better than for the rest.

As I mentioned this is quite a significant issue with battery life, and also with network issues, ~60 pop. Cov. as apposed to 98/99%+ on GSM network.

Łg does also intrinsically use more battery due to the bandwidth required to run the network, so more is being streamed, quicker, hence draining the battery.

These are not the only causes of battery drain whilst in 3G mode, however they are significant factors.

GPRS does not significantly drain the battery in either mode, UNLESS you are constantly bringing up pages etc. using the GPRS. If it is idle it doesn't matter whether you are in "on" or "off"mode.

My $.02

Also, 3G requires the phone to work harder regulating its signal, because of DSSS (which requires the same incoming signal strength from all connected phones to work properly). GSM doesn't have the same strict requirements regarding signal strength (the phones still regulate their power, but not as much), so the phone doesn't have to work as hard.

Either way, as others have said, you can't judge the battery performance after a few days, or even a week or two - it can take quite a while (and many cycles) for a new battery to reach its peak performance. When it does, you'll easily get 3-4, or even 5 days out of it.
