You'd better not do it unless you are sure about it...let SE Service Centre do it.

Well the service centre is ages away from me, and its just some random place that isn't officially SE, just somewhere that has the SE contract

i think its just the battery connectors where the battery connects to phone, you might have to take the es cover off to do it

Well I've now decided not to try and mess with the battery but I now dont seem to have any options. I've tried Kulan Davinci and Wotan, and none seem to be able to do anything. The little red L.E.D just keeps on flashing. Any one got any more suggestions? much appreciated, thanks

Latest kulan and wotan can update EROM CID51 now. As long as you phone is recognised by their client and you are good to go.
As for shorting batt contact in phone body just use metal object (like a fork/spoon) to connect all three pins (that would conect to batt). It should be safe as it only has residual current.
DO NOT touch the batt itself as you can have small explosion if you do that (OK maybe not explosion but it is very dangerous)

Hi,
To get your phone fixed for free is very easy.
I had the same problem as you last week and I fixed it.
First you need to download Wotan Sever from the Wotan support site.
Once you have done that make sure you have the USB drivers installed from the PC suite disc.
Now lanuch Wotan and let it update. Do not buy credits or put login details in.
Next you need to press start.
DONT DO ANYTHING YET.
Now remove your battery and SiM CArd and put the battery back in.
Now press 2 and 5 simulatneously and plug the USB in.
Let the magic happen
Hope this helps

Hanugro and mechanic. Thanks for the reponse. I got the phone fixed on friday after using the Wotan client again just on the off chance, and after it downloaded the latest update, the phone worked. I did however have to put on new firmware as I messed about with the original trying to get it to work before. I dont mind though as its much better than when it was orange. Thanks again for the support, and hats off to Wotan
