in fact thats also less true if you travel alot, as some of us here do, where we travel between 3g capable countries and EDGE capable countries. In this case both would be ideal!

I always expected manufacturers to support older systems while incorporating newer systems (like when Colour TV first came out it was decided to create a system that allowed TV stations to broadcast to B&W TV sets as well Colour in a common broadcast).
No I did not buy my P990i. My nephew gifted it to me. A cousin had gifted me the O2 Atom (so that I could remember to carry my PDA becuase I kept leaving my Palm T3 behind) and I was getting bugged that it did not have a tactile keyboard. The P990i has a PDA, Tactile Keyboard, and a touch screen. I like it's form factor. This is why despite my incompetence with such complex gizmos I persist with it.

@masseur, I fully agree; my reply to your post was in agreement with what you were saying. I think the P990, as nice as it is, wasn't well thought out at all given that 1. the time it took to market, and 2. the fact it doesn't have hsdpa. There are other factors that could have been better thought out.
I never made any reference to application developers in regard to hsdpa? My understanding is that it's a hardware issue. By revision I meant that SE may release a P990 with revised hardware if there is no replacement in the short-term. Maybe with a different model number, like the P900/P910, just an update so as not to completely lose the market. But this is just a pondering.
Of course EDGE is out of the question on the current P990 handsets, no argument there.
