Not true. Warranty is for the whole equipment as long as you comply in usage with what is stated in the warranty document.
You cannot unbrand your phone without loosing your warranty (that is in case they find out that you reflashed your phone when you submit the phone for warranty claims later on).

You are right. I am sure that Orange are not happy about users unbranding their phones, especially when they have issued them FOC as upgrades. However is'nt the warranty with the manufacturer - Sony Ericsson ? Would be interested to hear if anyone has attempted to get a warranty claim sorted after unbranding a P990.

Does the same apply to Vodafone P990i's?

Mine is reporting..

Phone: CXC 162037 R7A001
Bluetooth: CXC 162058 R4F01
Organiser: CXC 162036 R3B01
CDA: CDA 162008/91 R3A01

..and the SE update service says it has the latest. Ideally I'd like to go up to the 'World' versions listed here:

http://uiq3.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/CDA/P990i

Is that likely to be possible (without voiding the phone's warranty) ?

I've completely the same FW version as above. And the sad news is that my phone is not branded, plus when I tried to upgrade last week it said that I had the latest FW.
I'm in Belgium... How do I get the (World) latest FW ?

Thanks,

@Mayacesar
this is strange. The latest FW on the SEUS is the World 1 set. isued on 14 Feb.

As I understand it, if you have an unbranded phone it should upgrade to the lates FW

Just received my P990i back from SEUnlock.co.uk. The phone is working much better - now unbanded and flashed to the latest firmware.
The SEUnlock service is recommended.
