@artsea agree with you, its just a .Vcf file thats being saved to the memory card, so why would it be wrong to restore this file??

Restoring contacts from the memory card makes no difference whatsoever to doing it through outlook. The only things that may bring back any issues are the settings and any 3rd party programs you try to restore through PC suite. Backing up contacts and calendar etc. is not going to resurrect any FW issues. Please not my thread on General Debranding/Unlocking Advice, which outlines this.

Absolutely nothing at all.
To be honest whilst some of these tips may be useful a number of them have no rational reasoning behind them other being based on secondhand information or hearsay.
For example:
"2- Disable USB charging when you update your phone."
I have never had any problems updating with USB charging switched on. If this was a specifc requirement SE would say so as part of the update process. When the phone is being updated its likely only a low level flash uploader is running on the device (and not the core OS) so the USB charging feature is meaningless anyway.
"3- Don't run any app in background (opera, camera)(exept background app that the phone needs. "
And why would this be? What do you really gain from this? I would much rather sacrifice a tiny amount of potential battery life for my apps (like messages and contacts) being instantly available. To be honest I have noticed no measurable difference in battery life however many apps you have open at once.
"8- Always route answered calls to Bluetooth headset(if you have one). "
Why? What is the purpose of this? By default if I answer the phone on the handset the call remains in the phone, wheras if I answer with the headset the call is transferred to the headset. Nothing wrong with this.
"10- Do restore from backedup data on your pc only unified inbox when you have updated your phone."
I think the point here is to only restore your inbox after an update. Personally knowing how poor the backup software is I never restore a backup at all after a firmware update. I always start with a clean update, followed by restoring my contacts from the internal on-device backup, and then syncing with Outlook to get the rest of my PIM data back.
"11- if the phone 'freezed' DO NOT you ever take the battery away, instead of that just press and hold the power button for more than 10 seconds and the phone will be turned off. "
Poorly worded, but the principle is right. If the phone has hung and become unresponsive you can hold the power button for ten seconds and the device will reboot, the point being there is no need to remove the battery.
"12- if you turned your phone off wait minimum 2 minutes to restart it again. "
What? Where on earth does this come from? This has no merit at all. Whether I reboot immediately or sit and wait for two minutes makes no difference.
Whilst I appreciate that people are only trying to help out by posting these sorts of "tips" for the benefit of others, it would be more useful if the information was well researched and purely factual.
